“The Last of Us TV Trailer Revealed, Out Next Year. Sony has marked 2022’s The Last of Us Day with the first full trailer for HBO’s TV adaptation of The Last of Us, which will release at some point next year. Featuring many familiar scenes and clips from the game, the HBO series looks to have accurately captured the tone and post-apocalyptic setting of the Naughty Dog world.”

“PS5’s Bonkers Dev Kit Looks Like an Alien Space Craft in the Flesh. Many of you will be familiar with the outlandish design of the PS5’s dev kit by now – after all, diagrams that leaked several years ago gave us our very first glimpse of Sony’s successor to the PS4. But this is the first time we’ve been able to get up-close-and-personal with the hefty hardware, courtesy of YouTuber Macho Nacho Productions, who somehow managed to get his hands on a unit.
While the video doesn’t reveal much that we didn’t already know, it’s fascinating to see the format in the flesh like this. There’s a display on the front of the unit which includes important software development kit information, and some thoughtful design flourishes, including “wings”, which allow the console to stand up – or notches for nifty stacking purposes.”
“PlayStation executive reiterates stance to release games as premium titles first. A PlayStation executive has reiterated the platform’s stance on releasing its games as premium titles first. This summer, the revamped PlayStation Plus tiered system launched in Europe, Australia and New Zealand – its last regions to go live – with Essential, Extra and Premium tiers offering a number of differing benefits that stack the higher players go.
As part of the launch, Essential subscribers get the current PlayStation Plus offerings, whilst Extras will also get a number of PS4 and PS5 games, with Premium subscribers getting game trials and classic games on top of that.”

“Sony Releases New PS4 System Software Update. Sony has released PlayStation 4 system software update 10.01 for users to download now. Sony’s PlayStation 4 console is nearly a decade old at this point, and while Sony is clearly shifting its attention to the PS5, its last-gen console is still getting support. This includes regular new game releases with no signs of slowing down, as well as system software updates to improve the console in various ways. Sony recently released PS4 update 10.0, which made changes to the Internet Browser and Remote Play. That particular PS4 system software update made it possible for users to zoom in on web pages when using the console’s Internet Browser, and it also made it easier for users to use a mouse and keyboard when playing PlayStation games on PC using Remote Play. The latest update doesn’t offer any new features, but it should still be an improvement.”
